Background

The client wanted to sell distinctive scented candles through Shopify. Each candle has a wick that spirals around its edge, so it initially burns in a circle. It can then be lit a second time using a wooden wick in the centre. The online shop needed to explain this unusual feature clearly and present the candles attractively.

Process

Shopify was new to me. It was important to the client that he could easily edit products and content himself later on. I used AI-assisted tools from Claude and ChatGPT while designing the site and integrating it with Shopify.

The site needed to reflect the candles’ calm, elegant feel. I chose Cormorant Garamond, an expressive serif typeface, for the headings. A soft colour palette picks up the colours of the candles. The hero image and atmospheric product images were created with AI to support this visual mood.

Outcome

The result is a Shopify online shop that puts the candles and their distinctive way of burning at the centre. Its design combines calm colours, elegant typography and atmospheric imagery. The client can manage the shop himself.
