Background

The client sells window decorations for Basel’s Fasnacht carnival online. Her previous website was outdated, and ordering was cumbersome: customers could not browse the products easily and had to place their orders through a contact form. The goal was a modern online shop that the client could manage herself and that would be easy for her customers to use.

Process

I began by developing a new visual concept with suitable colours and typography. The client wanted blue to be the defining colour, and the existing logos could be retained. I chose the bold, playful typeface Oswald for headings and the highly legible Inter for body text.

The online shop needed to reflect the colours and character of the carnival figures. Images on the homepage therefore show how the decorations look on real windows. Using WordPress, Elementor and WooCommerce, I added a shopping cart and a direct checkout process. Customers can now select several products and complete their order without sending a request through a contact form.

Outcome

The result is a clear, easy-to-use online shop that presents the carnival figures vividly and makes shopping simpler. The client can manage products and content herself.
